The Gingerbread Houses look GREAT!

Hello Friends,

Both classes have been working hard creating gingerbread houses for the gingerbread babies in our classroom. They are finally complete and look good enough to eat! The children should be very proud of all their hard work!

The 4 year old class had a special guest today that taught them how to sing the song Silent Night in sign language. It was a very special experience for the children and teachers. Thank you very much to our new friend.

Gingerbread Babies!

Hello Friends,

Oh, those silly gingerbread babies have escaped and are in our classroom! We have to find all 15 by Friday and return them to their home! So far we have only found 2! Hopefully we will find more on Wednesday. If we find them all, we will celebrate by decorating and eating gingerbread cookies with our friends from the Culinary Department at NCCC! Keep your fingers crossed for us.

Fun Day At The Arena

What a fun day the 4 year old class had at the Kenan Center Sports Arena today. They danced and sang with Mrs. Dunn, and exercised with Manny's Mom, and prepared their own brown bag "healthy" lunches! I wonder if they shared their lunches with their families? Although we enjoyed our mini get-away, Monday we will be back at our school in the Education Building! Have a great weekend and hope to see you at the Holiday Show.

Little Red Riding Hood-REVISTED!

The 4 year old class has been busy rehearsing the play Little Red Riding Hood-Revisted! On Monday, the class spent their rehearsal time on stage at the Taylor Theater. The children truly got into their characters and had a super time performing! They also enjoyed seeking out the secret entrance to the theater. Did they happen to tell you about it?

Boo-Boo Books!

The 3 year old class will be completing their Boo-Boo Books on Thursday! Their little hands were busy unwrapping sticky, icky band-aids on Tuesday to decorate the covers. They will be dictating Boo-Boo stories tomorrow! They are certainly enjoying the month's theme "Sticky"!

The three year old class enjoyed feeding the birds on Tuesday! The children prepared diamond shape bread on Tuesday and decided to feed the birds the leftover crust. They will be very surprised when they come to school on Thursday and see that the bread is gone. Seagulls were seen flying away with the bread on Wednesday!

CREATING COLLAGES WITH MR. WULF AND STUDENTS!

What a fun time your children had creating snowmen collages with Mr. Wulf (the Art teacher at Lockport High School) and his Art students! It was a wonderful site to see and hear the conversation between the students. Please ask your children about their experience at school today. I am sure you will enjoy hearing all about it!

MEETING SYDNEY'S GUINEA PIG and KYLA'S WATER FROGS!

Thank you to Sydney and her Mom for bringing in Holly, Sydney's guinea pig and Kyla and her Mom for binging in Kyla's water frogs. The class learned a LOT about guinea pigs and water frogs today. The pets were great guests! The children also created their own pet rocks today. Did the children tell you what they named their pet rock? We had quite an interesting list of names!

GUEST READER!

Our Guest Reader was Henry's Mom, and the 3 year old class enjoyed hearing her read a Mercer Mayer story, THE SNOWMAN! To thank her, the class decided to act and sing "I'm a Little Snowman". They are the best melting snowpeople that I have ever seen!

Exploring Ezra Jack Keats

The children are having fun bringing Ezra Jack Keats' stories to life in our classroom! This past week they have been creating A SNOWY DAY collage on the classroom wall, and making pinecone birdfeeders to feed the birds like Jennie did in the story JENNIE'S HAT! The children are looking forward to next week, because Mr. Wulf's Art students from the Lockport High School will be coming in to do an Art lesson with them. We can't wait to see what masterpieces will be designed!

A NEW MONTH AND YEAR!

Hello Families,

It is wonderful to be back in school with your children!  We are certainly taking advantage of the snowy weather, by playing outside as much as we can.  The 3 year old class loved making snow angels, and the 4 year old class played king-of-the-mountain on some of the tall snowdrifts.  Both classes enjoyed making snowballs during our cooking lesson.  Did they share them with you?
